William Robert Mackey, Jr. (Bill), 71, formerly of Madison, KS passed away at a care facility in Nortonville, KS on Thursday, October 16th, 2025.
He was born July 7th, 1954, in Kansas City Missouri to William Robert and Dorothy Lavone (Spaeth) Mackey. The family moved to Madison, KS in 1956.
Bill attended school in Madison and graduated from Madison High School on May 23rd, 1972. He later went on to Emporia Kansas State College and received a Bachelor of Science in Business on December 17th, 1976.
He was married to Sue Scarberry on October 21, 1989, in Emporia, KS. The couple was divorced a few years later.
Bill worked a variety of jobs for several years. His last position was a custodian for Hardees at Matfield Green rest area on the turnpike.
Due to an illness, Bill spent the last 22 years in long-term care.
Bill is proceeded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Lavone and Fred Johnson of Emporia, KS and his brother and sister-in-law Jim and Mary Mackey of Kansas City, KS. Additional relatives include nieces Alex Glamann and family, Peyton Malone and family, Riley Johnson, and Masha Mackey and family and nephew Levi Mackey.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Thursday, October 23rd at Blakely Cemetery, Madison, KS.
Memorial contributions can be given to the First Christian Church of Madison or the Madison Public Library.
