Terry Wayne Maxfield, 78, passed away on December 17, 2025 at his home. Terry was born in Kansas City on October 26, 1947 to Wayne and Lela (Lord) Maxfield. Terry graduated from Wichita Heights High School in 1965.
Terry married Peggy Lee Harlan on June 25, 1971 in Emporia, KS. They shared 54 years of marriage in which they demonstrated an unfailing love.
Terry loved Peggy fiercely and he devoted himself to her and their family. They raised three sons: Kelly, Jason, and Cody.
Terry was the best Papa to his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy: Kynlee, Shepheard, Calvin, Ashton, and Cason.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Lela, and his sister Sharon (John) Minor.
Terry is survived by his wife, Peggy, and their sons: Kelly (Kala) of Emporia, Jason (Casey) of Joplin, and Cody (Lisa) of Emporia.
Terry was a successful business man, creating 2 businesses spanning 55 years: Skating Rinks and Professional Sound and Lighting. His first rink was secured on a bank loan guaranteed by his former boss’s Cadillac and his sound/light company started with his own creations of disco lights and controllers. A man that inspired trust and delivered with his creativity.
Terry was a devoted family man, accomplished business man, and lifelong problem solver. His hands were rarely still. Through long hours and dedication, he helped create spaces where people gathered, celebrated, and made lasting memories.
