Tanner James Banks

Tanner J. Banks, 32, passed away Friday, September 23, 2022 at Olathe Hospice House in Olathe, Kansas.

Tanner James Banks was born December 21, 1989 in Emporia, the son of James Richard Banks, Jr. and Shirley (Tabares) Banks. He attended school in Osage City. After high school, he served 4 years in the Army National Guards and was stationed in Djibouti, Africa for one year.

Tanner lived most of his life in Osage City except during his active duty with the Army National Guard and time on the road for work

He worked as a tower maintenance technician before becoming a crane operator later in life. Tanner loved motorcycles and became a proud member of the Boozefighters Club Chapter 49 in Osage County. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and coaching baseball for kids. Tanner was also a member of the Boy Scouts for several years.

Tanner will be forever remembered by mother, Shirley Banks (Jeff Smelser) of Topeka; a daughter, Reeve Banks of Salina; a son, Tucker Banks of Osage City; paternal grandfather, James Banks Sr. of Topeka; his fiancée and son, Tiffanie and Taylor Roberts of Osage City; two sisters, Tamsy (Rocky) Engel of Herington and Taylor Smelser of Gardner.

He was also preceded in death by his father, maternal grandparents, Nacho and Shirley Tabares; paternal grandmother, Delores Banks

Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 22, 2022 at VanArsdale Funeral Chapel in Osage City. Cremation has taken place. Family will be receiving friends an hour before service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tanner J. Banks Children’s Educational Fund and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Home, 107 N. Sixth, Osage City, Kansas 66523.
