Sonda Gaylene Bruce

Sonda Bruce of Eskridge Ks.

Sonda (without an "R") has gone to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior on December 2, 2025.

Sonda died after years of suffering with MCS/ Multi Chemical Sensitivities, living in a fragrance-free safe home, and also cancer.

Sonda was born March 22, 1947, the daughter of Walter and Mildred Phillips. She grew up in the heart of the Flint Hills: Cottonwood Falls, KS.

She married Gary W. Bruce in June of 1977.

Sonda owned and managed many businesses, such as: Sonda's Beauty Salon, Bruce's Coloration Plus, Flint Hills Motel & Gift Shop, Sonda's Cottage of Treasures, Unusually Unusual Treasures, Cedar Point Country Store, and she published the cedar point news.

She enjoyed her years of living in Branson, Mo.

She is survived by her husband Gary Bruce, her daughter Carmen Schwilling, grandsons Joshua (Chandra) Schwilling, Trey (Amanda) Schwilling , Luke (Caileen) Schwilling, and great grandsons Rhett, Ryland, and Hunter Schwilling.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Warren Lee Phillips and Gary Phillips.

Sonda will be buried in the Phillips family cemetery in the duck creek area of Lyon County.

There will be a memorial for Sonda on Sunday afternoon, December 7th, at 3:00pm at St Anthony’s Hall in Strong City, Kansas.
