Shirley Viola Schotte Truelove, 88, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at home in Munford, Tennessee.
She was born October 22, 1936, in Aliceville, Kansas, the daughter of Rudolf August and Esther Ann Roscher Schotte. Shirley attended Burlington High School and graduated in 1954.
She married Dale Allen Truelove on February 20, 1955, in Burlington, Kansas. Shirley and Dale spent the early years of their marriage farming in Iowa and later in the Burlington area before moving to Kansas City, Missouri. Shirley earned her cosmetology license in the early 1960s. In 1987, Shirley and Dale moved to Gravois Mills, Missouri at the Lake of the Ozarks. They were members of Peace Lutheran Church in Greenville, Missouri. There she led the hand bell choir; the set of bells was donated to the church by her father. Shirley will be remembered for her talents in sewing and creating ceramics, which she shared with family and friends.
Shirley will remain in the hearts of her daughters, Cynthia Ann Tanck and husband Stephen of Munford, Tennessee, and Twila Jean Brown of St Petersburg, Florida; her five grandchildren, Taylor Danielle Brown, Cortney Paige Brown, Afton Nicole Brown, Dale Austin Tanck and wife Lillian, and Toni Marie Tanck; her two great granddaughters, Nora Jane Tanck and Kinlee Blake Brown; sister Arvella Lee and brother Gene Schotte. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Dale; her parents; brother Merlin Schotte, sister Betty Avery and infant sister Darleen Schotte.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 25, 2025, at Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home, 107 W. Sixth, Lebo, Kansas. Family will receive friends an hour before service. Burial to follow service at Hartford Cemetery, Hartford, Kansas.
