Sammy Jay King, Jr. was born January 30, 1968 in Emporia, Kansas to Sammy Jay King and Frances Atchison. He passed away Monday, November 21, 2016 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.
Sammy attended Village Elementary School in Emporia and graduated from Emporia High School in 1986. After graduation he moved to Topeka. He lived and worked at KNI where he was the campus mail carrier.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Louis and Anna Hooper Atchison, Leonard and Betty Palmer King; his father; a brother, Kristopher King; uncles, Tom Myers, Wayne Matthews and Michael Atchison; cousins, Ronnie Ann Baker and Jeremiah Atchison.
He is survived by his parents, Frederick and Frances Sapp and Lois King; brother, Edward Sapp and wife Rhonda; sister, Kimberly King; niece, Brianna Sapp; nephews, Brandon Sapp and Gabe King; lifelong friends, Kevin Gard, Joy Wilcock, Sara Elsea, Pat Bittell and many other members of his MDA family, his KNI family and Stormont-Vail family; aunts and uncles, Bradley and Mary Atchison, Peggy Myers, Lonnie and Joye Atchison, Tom and LaDonna Harcar, Rex and Gail Atchison, Ron and Regina Combs, Clarence and Michelle Atchison, Jesus and Lela Enriquez, Marcella and David Reynolds, Paul and Tina Atchison, Renelda and Jay Tatman, Louis and Diane Atchison, Elmer and Sandra Riley, Ron Baker, Edward Keighley; cousins, Aaron, Mark, and Ellis Atchison, Jennifer Coe, Cindy Johnson, Sherrie Pica, Angela, Brian, Austin and Michelle Atchison, Tracy Harcar, Angela Dick, Mechelle Harcar, Kim Becker and Tyson Young, Rex, Albert, Joe and Justin Atchison, Amy Ruge, Steve and Tommy Senna, Crystal Senna-Rucker, Ashley Keighley, Jamie Hernandez, Kristina Rues, Jeremy Keighley, Josh and Brandon Atchison, Adam and Casey Tatman and many, many more aunts, uncles and cousins from his Atchison, King and Sapp families whom he loved and who loved him.
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday November 26, 2016 at the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home in Lebo. Burial will follow services at Arvonia Cemetery. The family will receive friends form 9:00 A.M. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the KNI Benefit Fund and sent in care of the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home at P.O. Box #43, Lebo, Kansas 66856. Condolences may be expressed at vanarsdalefs.com.
