Ruby L. Stewart

Ruby Lucille Stuck Stewart of El Dorado KS, formerly of Hamilton Ks. was promoted to Heaven April 26, 2025, at Homestead of El Dorado, she was 87.

Ruby was born the daughter of Earl & Alice Gulick Stuck on May 2, 1937, on her parent’s farm near Aline OK. Ruby started her education at Lone Star country school until it closed. At that time, she went to Dacoma schools where she graduated with the class of 1955. Shortly after graduation on May 23, 1955, she married her high school sweetheart George E Stewart, in the same house she was born in. After gathering eggs from her dad’s 4000 turkeys, George and Ruby took their honeymoon trip to Missouri to deliver his mother home. Promptly there after the couple moved to a farm N. of Hamilton KS. where they lived the majority of their lives farming and raising their 4 children.

Ruby was a hard-working farm wife, helping George all she could driving tractor, trucks or Milking cows and raising animals. When her youngest child graduated high school Ruby accepted a position with Hamilton Schools driving a bus and working in the kitchen. She was a beloved bus driver to hundreds of children over the 32 years she drove with no accidents or tickets. Ruby loved them too, faithfully providing treats on their birthdays and holidays. She was the Tiger’s biggest fan, attending games, providing concession food, sponsoring, and buying cake walk tickets; then chauffeuring kids to activities of every kind, and buying fund raising items from her bus kids.

Ruby was a faithful member of the Hamilton Baptist Church where she gave her life to Jesus and was baptized.

Ruby was a skilled embroiderer and embellished many items and gifts for family and friends. Ruby was an avid reader, often devouring sets of novels at a time. Her favorite book, however, was always the Holy Bible. Her well read and much worn bible was always next to her chair available for her to pick up and read at any time. Ruby loved to cook and was wonderful at it always cooking from scratch. Her family particularly remembers her cinnamon rolls and biscuits. Ruby’s greatest love was her family, she loved to gather them together around her table. Ruby would host monthly birthday parties where she would bake each person their own cake, always served with ice cream. Every holiday was an opportunity to surround herself with family, food and fun & games.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, husband George of 61 years, twin sisters, sister Carol Stuck Lewis, daughter Deanna S. Stewart, grandson-in-law Deacon Davis, and great-grand son Ethan Davis.

Those who survive her are her sister Pauline Stuck Kassik of Dacoma OK, children: Marsha P. Stewart of El Dorado, KS, Jeffery A. Stewart (Brenda) of Eureka KS, Mark E. Stewart (Denise) of Hamilton KS. Ten Grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 3, 2025, at VanArsdale Funeral Home, 202 W. Main, Madison, Kansas. Interment to following service at Janesville Cemetery in Hamilton, Kansas. Family will receive friends Friday, May 2, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Madison.
