ROBERT "BOB" LEROY TOMLINSON, JR. OSAGE CITY- Robert LeRoy Tomlinson, Jr., 79, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2015 at his home. Robert LeRoy Tomlinson, Jr. was born September 5, 1935, in Osage City, the son of Robert L. and Mildred E. (Moore) Tomlinson, Sr. He attended school in Osage City. Robert was employed by Kansas Power and Light Company for 27 years before retiring in 1992. He had also worked at the City of Osage City for 9 years. He was a member of Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Osage City. He served on the City Council for 24 years, Osage City Volunteer Fire Department for 31 years, a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 3890 for several years and held every office. He was a Union Stewart for Local 304 Electrical Workers for 21 years before becoming a supervisor for the Kansas Gas Company. He had won Father of the Year which he was nominated by his daughter, son, Michael, and niece, Pam Anderson. He enjoyed the outdoors, loved hunting, fishing, trapping and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He married Mary Katherine Lawless on November 17, 1962 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Osage City. He is survived by his wife; a daughter Elaine "Roxane" Duncan and friend, Tim Romine of Lawrence; three sons, Robert L. Tomlinson, III, and his wife Paula of Osage City, Michael G. Tomlinson of Oklahoma City and Mark J. Tomlinson and his wife, Lisa of Overbrook; six grandchildren, Alicia Duncan of Topeka, Erica Phillips and husband, Anthony of DeKalb, Missouri, Tori and Trey Tomlinson of Osage City, Evan and Owen Tomlinson of Overbrook; five great-grandchildren, Miley and Shaylee Phillips of DeKalb, Missouri and Keelyn, Symiah and Maykiah Duncan of Topeka; two sisters, Delores Robert and Judith Tomlinson of Osage City. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Gary L. Tomlinson and a infant daughter, Mina Jean Tomlinson in 1964. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Osage City. Family will receive friends Tuesday evening at the church from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Osage City. Memorial contributions may be made to Robert L. Tomlinson, Jr. Memorial Fund to be designated at later date and may be sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N.
