Robert Basler, 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 7, 2025, in Burlington, Kansas, surrounded by his loving family.
Robert was born on September 10, 1934, in Thayer, Kansas, the son of Leon and Dorothy Basler. He graduated from Bartlesville High School and later earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army, receiving an honorable discharge.
In 1957, Robert married the love of his life, Anna Salard. Together they built a beautiful life and raised two children, Anna Fay and Richard, whom he cherished deeply. Robert enjoyed a long and fulfilling career with Phillips Petroleum Company, where he played a key role in the construction of power plants. His professional dedication was matched only by the lasting friendships he formed with his colleagues, who became like family.
Robert was a faithful member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Emporia, Kansas, and an active participant Masonic Lodge in both Oklahoma and Kansas. Outside of work and service, Robert embraced life with a deep appreciation for simple pleasures. He especially loved spending time outdoors, often going fishing and camping whenever he had the chance. He also had a passion for antiquing, frequently visiting different antique shops in search of hidden treasures. At home, Robert enjoyed the quiet satisfaction of knitting, solving puzzles, and sharing heartfelt stories with his family and friends.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Anna; his daughter, Anna Fay Basler; his son, Richard Basler; grandchildren Mason Vickery, Megan (Matt) Levy, and Garrett Vickery; great-grandchildren Evelyn Levy, Addison Levy, and Maddox Vickery; and his brother, Bill Basler.
