Patricia Jean "Patti" Harris

August 14, 1955 — December 30, 2017

Patricia Jean Harris, 62, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Holiday Resort. Patti was born August 14, 1955 in Fredonia, Kansas, the daughter of Kenneth and Hazel Lewis Horst.   As a young lady, she attended Madison High School.  Patti married James Long in 1973 at which time she adopted his daughter Amey. James preceded he in death in 1974. Patti married Randall Talkington on April 11, 1976. They were later divorced.  She will live on in the hearts of her daughters, Laura Melton of Madison, Samantha Farr of Emporia and Julie Shafer of Toronto; sisters, Debbie Lee of Monroeville, Alabama, Neva Turner of Madison, Mary Cook of Eureka and Teresa Yoder of Enid, Oklahoma; brothers, David Rhodes of Emporia, Bill Rhodes of Pensicola, Florida, John Horst of Minnesota, Mark Rhodes of Oswego; nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, John Horst; step father, David Rhodes and a daughter Amey on January 29, 1991.  Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Madison United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. Inurnment will be at a later date in Number 8 Cemetery. Condolences may be made at  vanarsdalefs.com.
