,Orvil “Lorin” Peres Jr., age 71, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, in Hartford, Kansas, surrounded by his loving family.
Lorin was born on December 5, 1953, in Emporia, Kansas, to Orvil and Audry Peres Sr. He graduated from Emporia High School and went on to build a life defined by hard work, loyalty, and deep love for his family.
In 2011, Lorin married Karen Tatman in Miami, Oklahoma. Together, they created a beautiful life filled with love and shared memories. Lorin was a devoted father to five children, Angela Peres, Kara Peres, Tyra Peres, Kara Partridge, and Jeremiah Partridge, each of whom he cherished with all his heart.
Lorin worked as a concrete finisher, a profession that showed his strong work ethic and dedication. More than just a job, his work introduced him to lifelong friends who became like family over the years.
Outside of work, Lorin found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved country drives with music playing, especially his favorite band, The Beatles. An outdoorsman at heart, he spent countless hours fishing with his kids, watching trains, or fixing with cars and lawnmowers. No matter what the task, if it brought him outside or brought him closer to loved ones, Lorin was happy. Lorin also attended Calvery Baptist Church
Family was everything to Lorin. He was the glue that held everyone together, always at the center of holiday gatherings and family get-togethers, making sure no one ever left hungry. A proud “food pusher,” he delighted in feeding the people he loved and seeing everyone enjoy themselves.
Lorin is survived by his loving wife, Karen; his children Angela Peres, Kara Peres, Tyra Peres, Kara Partridge, and Jeremiah Partridge; his grandchildren Jocelyn, Abrielle, Rafael, Elizabeth, Emiliano, Kinsey, Kaylee, Ava, Avri, and Lilly; his great-grandchildren Metztli and Ximena; his siblings Larry W. Peres, Alama Worrel, Keith (Norma) Peres, Martin (Berenda) Peres, Allan Peres, Marvin Peres, Kimberly Wright, Mary (Bob) Whitsitt, and Gilbert (Amanda) Peres; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
