MARY LOU MAHAN
HARTFORD- Mary Lou Mahan, 86, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Emporia Presbyterian Manor.
Mary Lou Beal was born July 10, 1930 in rural LaHarpe, Kansas, the daughter of Owen and Mabel Tennant (Robenstein) Beal. She graduated from LaHarpe High School in 1948.
She was joined in marriage to Jack William Mahan on May 31, 1953 in LaHarpe, Kansas. To this union, two children, Melody and Arick. Mary was a homemaker for her family, babysat, and ran a bait shop from the home and also a greenhouse in Hartford.
She was a member of Hartford United Methodist Church.
She will be forever remembered by her daughter, Melody Annette (William) Nienstedt of Hartford; a son, Arick Lee (Judy) Mahan of Neosho Rapids; five grandchildren, Heather Schultz, Ashley Nehls, Justin Mahan, Michael Mahan, Ericka Pomerening and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jack; two sisters, Dorothy Beal, Helen (Beal) Aiken, two brothers, Lawrence Beal and Donald Beal.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, December 22, 2016 at the United Methodist Church in Hartford. Family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home in Lebo. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mary Mahan Memorial Fund to be designated at a later date. Condolences may be expressed at vanarsdalefs.com.
