Marvin “Ron” Wright, 79, of Emporia, Kansas, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Ron was born on June 30, 1946, in Emporia, Kansas, Ron was the son of Marvin and Verdene (Wiley) Wright. He attended Emporia State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration.
On July 21, 1968, Ron married the love of his life, Eileen Thorman, in Miltonvale, Kansas. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised five sons: Kenneth, Christopher, Joshua, Jeremy, and Dustin.
Ron owned many motels across Kansas and in Emporia he operated Days Inn, Best Western Hospitality House.
Ron proudly served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970. During his service, he was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged. He was a participant of the USD #252 Lyon County Honor Flight.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Eileen; his five sons, Kenneth Wright, Christopher Wright, Joshua Wright, Jeremy Wright, and Dustin Wright; and his beloved grandchildren: Francis Brogan, Zachary Wright, Tatum Wright, Everett Wright, Henry Wright, Harper Wright, Zaiden Wright, Kiazer Ruhl, Brandon Jones, Victoria Schlup, and Elizabeth Schrater. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren: Leo Brogan, Liam Brogan, Jed Jones, Waylon Schlup, and Adler Schlup.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Victory Fellowship Church in Emporia, Kansas. Interment to follow service at Maplewood/Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Emporia.
