Marvin V. Lake, 83, passed away Monday, August 24, 2026, at the Olathe Medical Center.
He was born June 30, 1943, in Lubick, Texas, the son of Myron and Sarah Dodson Lake.
Marvin married Trudie Durham on July 30, 1967, in Topeka, Kansas. They would later divorce.
He lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado where he served in the United States Army National Guard. Marvin moved to Topeka in 1970 and worked at Allis Chalmers. He farmed with his father after moving back to Kansas and continued until his father retired in 1995. In 1993 he began farming with his nephew, Ryan Mitchell, near Waverly, until he retired in 2016. Being a true farmer at heart, Marvin continued to work with area farmers after moving to Lyon County in 2016.
Marvin married Sharon Ann Jacob on June 8, 2003, in Emporia, Kansas. They treasured the eighteen years they shared until her death on March 7, 2021.
Marvin will live in the hearts of his daughters, Kristina Rues of Lawrence, Karri Lake of Topeka and Brenda Heins of Olpe; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; stepdaughters, Richelle Smith of Emporia and Cara Parsons of Burlington; a sister, Cathy Lake of South Carolina; brothers, Don Lake of Arizona and Myron Lake of Missouri; a nephew, Ryan Mitchell of Waverly; numerous extended family and a community of friends. Marvin was preceded in death by a brother, Leon Lake and a granddaughter, Makayla Lake.
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home in Lebo. Burial will follow services at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Neosho Rapids, Kansas. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. at the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home in Lebo. Memorial contributions may be made to the Coffey County cancer Support Group and sent in care of the funeral home at P.O. Box #43, Lebo, Kansas. Condolences may be expressed at vanarsdalefs.com.
