Martha Elane Allen Tatman, 58, passed away early Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at her home in Emporia.
She was born May 26, 1962 in Neodesha, Kansas the daughter of Virgil O’Leary and Rachel Sarringer. Martha was adopted at birth by Floyd and Wilma Dannels Allen.
Martha attended Hartford High School and graduated with the Class of 1980. Following high school, Martha worked at I.B.P. for a couple years before taking a position at Holiday Resort where she worked as a medication aide.
She was joined in marriage to Rodney Tatman on January 6, 1986 in Emporia. During the early years of marriage, Martha took a break from working outside the home to raise her young family. She would return to work at Hopkins Manufacturing where she spent the next 22 years before her retirement on October 23, 2019 due to health concerns.
Martha will live on in the hearts and memories of her devoted husband, Rodney of their home; daughters, Amanda Pope and her husband Larry of Emporia and Tiffany Hall and her husband Brian of Emporia; a sister, Jean Labrie of Thorntown, Indiana; brothers, Troy Allen of Cape Geraldo, Mo., Charles O’Leary of Udall, Kansas; Virgil O’Leary of Cherryvale, Ks, Buck Pece of Oklahoma City and Phil Woods of Nashville, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Akira Hall, Jayce Pope, Raeleigh Pope and Declan Hall; Martha was preceded in death by her birth and adopted parents and a sister, Joyce Coleman.
Cremation is planned with a celebration of Martha’s life to be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, November 6, 2020 at the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home in Lebo. Inurnment will take place in Lena Valley Cemetery north of Lamont. Face coverings are required for attendance at the funeral home.
