Born on June 27, 1938, in Osage City, Kansas, Lois was the daughter of Elmer and Venerva (Harper) Ard. She grew up in Osage City and graduated from Osage City High School with the Class of 1956.
On September 4, 1970, Lois married Roger Seth Gurtler. Together they built a life rooted in love, commitment, hard work, and devotion to family. They shared more than fifty years of marriage before Roger's passing in 2022. Their home was a place where family was always welcome and where countless cherished memories were made.
Lois's greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who found happiness in spending time with those she loved. She cherished family gatherings, holidays, and special occasions, taking great pride in watching each new generation grow and thrive.
Lois worked at Hallmark Cards, first at the Osage City facility and later at the Leavenworth location. Through more than twenty years of dedicated service, she built lasting friendships and took pride in her work until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; her parents, Elmer and Venerva Ard; and her 12 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Amy (Duane) Quaney; her grandchildren, Dillon (Jeniffer) Quaney, Anna (Matt) Murphy, and Seth Quaney; and great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Henry Murphy.

She was a woman of kindness, grace, and perseverance whose presence brought comfort to those around her. Her love was constant, her support unwavering, and her family was always at the center of her heart.
While her passing leaves a profound void, her family finds comfort in the many memories they shared and in knowing she has been reunited with Roger and the loved ones who went before her.
The family extends sincere gratitude to all who have offered prayers, support, and kindness during this difficult time.
Lois will be dearly missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
