Leroy E. Wright, 86, passed away early Monday, April 6, 2026, at the Homestead Assisted Living in Osage City, Kansas.
Leroy Earl Wright was born March 23, 1940, in Osage City, the son of Harvey E and Josephine Davis Wright.
Leroy attended school in Osage City and graduated from Osage City High School in 1958. He attended Kansas State University for 1 ½ years. Leroy was a bookkeeper for the Missile Base north of Osage City while attending college at Washburn University.
Leroy was a member of the Osage City Boys Scouts and had earned the rank of Eagle Scout and God and Country Award. He attended the National Boy Scout Jamboree in Village Forge, Pennsylvania in 1957.
He married Regina Watson on October 6, 1961. They had three children, Christine, Todd and Sherri. They were divorced. He married Mary Sharp. They were divorced. He was a tire builder at Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Topeka for 10 years while attending Washburn University. He graduated from Washburn University in 1967.
He worked for the Army-Air Force Exchange Service at Forbes Field in Topeka before being transferred to Dallas and working there for 30 years before retiring. He and his family spent four years TDY in Munich, Germany.
Leroy loved to travel by walking, motorcycle, car, airplane, train or boat. He was a member of the Dallas Trekker and had volksmarched over 31,000 miles. He had traveled to all continents except Australia.
Survivors include his daughter, Sherri Neal, Mesquite, Texas; grandchildren, Amanda, Karen, Jeremy, Josh and Christian; a sister, Sheila Curley and her husband John, two nephews, Rob and Philip Curley and their children. He was preceded in death by his son, Todd Michael Wright and grandson, Jeffrey Neal, his parents, and infant brother, Harvey Duane Wright.
Services will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, April 10, at VanArsdale Funeral Chapel in Osage City. Inurnment will follow at Osage City Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Osage City Boy Scouts, sent in care of the funeral home.
