Kevin Jay Brumbaugh, 58, of Topeka, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Stormont Vail Health in Topeka.

Kevin Jay Brumbaugh was born August 22, 1968, in Topeka, the son of Darold and Glenda (Payne) Brumbaugh. He lived in Burlingame and Scranton.

Kevin was hard working man; he was dedicated to assuring his children had the best life they could. Kevin worked two jobs for many years. He worked in printing for over 20 years at Hall Directory and Mainline Printing. He had a love for tow trucks and worked for AAA for several years. He ended his career as a diesel mechanic at Frito Lay.

Kevin would first become a father with the birth of his son, Kacey Jay Emery. He later married Andrea Walburn, and from their union, two sons were born, Devin Jay and Taylor Jay. Kevin and Andrea would eventually divorce.

In 2008, Kevin married the love of his life, Desiree Rainez. Together, they welcomed a daughter, Gabrielle.

Kevin will be forever remembered by his wife of the home; his mother, Glenda Graham of Osage City; three sons, Kacey (Miranda) Emery of Lawrence, Devin (Harley) Brumbaugh of Topeka, Taylor Brumbaugh of Topeka; a daughter Gabrielle Thomas (Brett) of Orrick, MO, a brother, Michael Brumbaugh of Osage City; two sisters, Dawn Brumbaugh of Topeka and Lisa Graham (JW) Bolton of Osage City; five step-sisters, Debi Freeborn of Elk Creek, Nebraska, Dixie Kay, Linda Marie, Glenda Ann and Cathy June, all of Topeka; nine grandchildren, Hayleigh and Maddie Emery, McKenzie Whitmore, Alex Brinker Emery, Corra and Rogan Thomas, and Oakley and Brantley Brumbaugh; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward “Eddie” Graham, his grandparents, Donald and Stella Payne and Vern and Iretta Brumbaugh, Stella Elizabeth and Robert “Bob” Chambers, a stepbrother, Jay Edwards; stepsister, Carole Sue and an uncle, William “Bill” Payne.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the Crossroad Community Church in Scranton. Burial to follow service at Scranton Cemetery. Family will be receiving friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, September 14, 2026, at VanArsdale Funeral Chapel in Osage City. Memorial contributions may be made to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network or Bikers for Babies and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth, Osage City, KS 66523.
