John Lewis Bowers, 67, passed away Monday, December 2, 2024 at his home near Reading, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born December 15, 1956 in Kansas City, Kansas the son of Albert and Dorothy Wamser Bowers. John attended Reading High School and graduated with the Class of 1975.
John married the love of his life, Connie Thornton on April 14, 1976 in Emporia. They began their lives together living in Emporia and Neosho Rapids. In the mid 1980’s they moved into their current home northwest of Reading.
John spent 15 years working at I.B.P. before taking a job at Kan-Build. John had also worked at True Value, Auto Zone and most recently Southerland’s in Emporia. He retired as a Sales Supervisor due to health complications five years ago.
John will live on in the hearts and memories of his beloved wife, Connie of their home; daughters, Julie Ramsdale and husband Alan of Wichita, Shawna Gatewood and husband Steve of Neosho Rapids; sons, Johnny Lee Walker and wife Angie of Vassar and John Shane Bowers of Reading; nine grandchildren; numerous extended family and a community of friends. John was preceded in death by two sisters, Charlene Johnson, Alberta Southworth; two brothers, Dan Bowers and Albert Bowers.
