Jack Failing, 93, of Lebo passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at Holiday Resort in Emporia.
He was born July 4, 1929 in Marland, Oklahoma the son of Orville Eugene and Bertha Lea Grim Failing. Jack enlisted in the United States Army on February 21, 1952. He would proudly serve his country until receiving an honorable discharge on December 3, 1953.
Jack married Norma Jean Griffith on August 27, 1951 in Borger, Texas. They lived the early years of marriage in Douglas, Kansas where he worked at Boeing for several years. In 1966 they returned to Reading where Jack farmed with his father and later took a job working for the City of Reading. Jack and Norma Jean were divorced in 1983. He would continue working for the City of Reading for over 15 years until his retirement in 1992.
Jack married Glenda Miller of Lebo. He worked for Bill Schrader digging graves for several years throughout the area.
He will live on in the hearts and memories of his daughter Sally A. Goff of Lebo, Kansas; a son, Jerry L. Failing of Walla Walla, Washington, five grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren. Numerous extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean L. Failing; a grandson, James Eric Luby and both wives, Norma Jean and Glenda.
Jack was buried in Reading Cemetery on Monday, October 24, 2022 with his immediate family present while military honors were presented by the Ft. Riley honor detail.
