Helen Charlotte Wallace, 96, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Homestead of Emporia.
She was born November 13, 1928, in Burlingame, Kansas the daughter of Carl and Goldie Seaman Luft. Helen attended Kingsdown High School and graduated with the Class of 1946.
Helen was joined in marriage to Bill Wallace on August 8, 1947, in Hutchinson, Kansas. They began their lives together living in Hutchinson for a year before moving to rural Waverly. In 1949 they settled on the family farm where they raised their family. Helen took pride in being a mom and homemaker for her three children, somehow finding time to help Bill on the farm whenever she could. Helen’s unwavering work ethic was a mainstay in her life which she proudly passed on to her children.
Helen and Bill attended the church in Halls Summit until it closed, and they began attending the Waverly United Methodist Church. Sadly, Bill would precede Helen in death on July 23, 2006. She remained on the farm until moving to Lebo in 2011. Helen transferred her membership to the Lebo United Methodist Church where she was active in the Lebo United Women of Faith. She also found joy as a member of the Red Hat Club. She was a member of the Waverly American Legion Auxiliary, later transferring her membership to the Lebo American Legion Auxiliary.
Helen will live on in the hearts and cherished memories of her daughter, Connie Sue Newton of Grain Valley, Mo., her sons, Robert Eugene Wallace and wife Danielle of Emporia and Keith Richard Wallace and wife Kari of Lebo; twelve grandchildren; twenty two great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lynn Luft of Lyman, Colorado, Jay Luft of Arvada, Colorado and Pat Wallace of Council Grove, Ks; numerous extended family and countless dear friends. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Beau Wallace; sister, Faye Rene Boetger; brothers, George Luft, John Luft and his wife Lorna, Vernon Luft and a son-in-law, Robert Philip Newton.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the Lebo United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends an hour prior to services at the church. Burial will follow services at Lincoln Cemetery in Lebo. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lebo United Women of Faith and sent in care of the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home, P.O.
