Glenn Dale Miller, 97, of Lebo, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at the Presbyterian Manor in Emporia. Glenn Dale was born December 21, 1919, on a farm near Delevan, Kansas, the son of Earl C. and Lola E. Watkinson Miller. At two months of age, his family moved to a farm south of Lebo. He attended Lebo High School, graduating with the Class of 1937. Glenn Dale helped his father on the farm until leaving to serve his country in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. He served most of his four years’ enlistment in Alaska. He was joined in marriage to Dorothy Lee Barnett on July 29, 1945, at Grace Methodist Parsonage in Emporia, by Rev. J.C. Brogan. To this union were born two children, a daughter, Yvonna Kay and a son, Galen Dale. Glenn Dale and Dorothy Lee made their home in the Lebo area after his discharge from the military in 1945. They would own and operate the Lebo School buses for thirty-five years. They retired together in 1990. Glenn Dale’s memberships included the Lebo United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #323 and the I.O.O.F. for 70 years. His community pride was evident in his service on the Lebo City Council, the Grangers Coop Elevator Board, Lebo Senior Housing Board and as a trustee for the Lincoln Township. He will live on in the hearts of his daughter, Yvonna Albright of Topeka; son, Galen D. Miller of Aurora, Colo.; three sisters, Oneta Lane and Joyce Buckle of Lebo and Lorene Hamilton of Topeka; grandchildren, Celestine Colon of Wichita, Larry (Tara) Albright, Chantel Albright, Charles Albright, Danielle (Clint) Wathen of Topeka, Jennifer (Jeff) Cribbs and Julia Miller of Brooklyn, New York, Grant (Claire) Miller of Lyndon; twelve great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Glenn Dale was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Lee; sisters, Cletis Hodges and Ilah Miller; brother, Eugene Miller, son-in-law, Michael Albright; a grandson; great-granddaughter and two great-great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Glenn Dale’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 19, 2017 at the Lebo United Methodist Church. Burial will follow services at Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M., Friday evening at the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home in Lebo.
