Gerald Thomsen

Gerald Thomsen, 80, a beloved brother, uncle, and great-uncle passed away July 2nd at the Life Care Center in Burlington, Kansas. He was born May 5, 1946, in Emporia, Kansas to Carlis and Freda Thomsen.

After graduation from high school, he began work in the construction field. Gerald was known for his construction work in Emporia, Kansas; he was employed by Markowitz Construction for many years, followed with employment for Emporia Construction Company. In addition, Gerald was a landowner and farmer in the Hartford, Kansas area.

Gerald will be missed by family. Being a brother and an uncle were very important to him. He was always there for family gathering and important events in his nieces and nephews’ lives such as graduations and weddings.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great nephew. He is survived by three sisters: Shirley Allen of Burlington, Kansas, Kathryn Tatman of Emporia, Kansas, and Helen (Marie) Robinson of Wilsey, Kansas: a brother Ronnie Thomsen of Hartford, Kansas, 5 nieces and 2 nephews, and 4 great nieces, 5 great nephews and 1 great-great nephew. Numerous extended family and a community of friends.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 10th at 11:00 am at the Madison Global Methodist Church, Madison, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Hartford Cemetery, Hartford, Kansas

Visitation will be 10:00 am on July 10th at the Madison Methodist Church, Madison, Kansas.
