Floyd S. “Odie” Hall, 72, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at Newman Hospital in Emporia. He was born March 10, 1948 in Emporia, Kansas the son of Harry E. and Catherine Blanche Smith Hall. Floyd was raised in Neosho Rapids and attended Hartford High School where he graduated with the Class of 1966.In 1969 he began working as a welder at Sauder Custom Fabrication in Emporia. Floyd continued working there until his retirement in 2010. He would occasionally be requested to return and help with particularly difficult projectsHe was joined in marriage to Debra Merwin on October 24, 1970 in Emporia. They would make their home together in Emporia for the next 49 plus years. Floyd was devoted to his family. He enjoyed his times at family picnics, adding his boat rides, his humor and just his presence was welcomed. His fishing skills, his wood working skills will always be remembered. Floyd's presence added so much to everyone that he spent time with. His nickname to most was Odie. Floyd will live on in the hearts of his wife Debra of their home in Emporia; a son, Brian L. Hall and his wife Tiffany of Emporia; a brother, Harry A. Hall of Richmond, Virginia; grandchildren, Akira N. Hall and Declan K. Hall; numerous extended family and a host of dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marilyn Rhoads; brothers, Bob Hall, George Hall and Glenn Hall as well as an infant sister, Kathy. Cremation is planned with services to be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Floyd Hall Memorial Fund to be designated later.
