��Elijah Colglazier, 95, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the Sunset Manor in Waverly. He was born May 25, 1920 in Friends, Kansas the son of Albert and Mary Elizabeth Walliser Colglazier. ��Elijah graduated from Neosho Rapids High School with the Class of 1939. ��He was joined in marriage to Betty Jane Walkup on January 3, 1942 in Emporia. Elijah farmed during the early years of their marriage. To help provide for his family during the winters he worked as a carpenter, remodeling and building homes throughout the Hartford and Neosho Rapids area. Betty Jane was stricken with ALS and preceded Elijah in death on February 8, 1962. ��Elijah married Helen Joyce Makin on October 9, 1965 in Madison, Kansas. The couple moved into Emporia shortly after getting married and Elijah began his career at Didde Glaser. He worked as a parts clerk and retired with 25 years of service. ��Elijah was an avid hunter and fisherman. He held membership in the Lebo Masonic Lodge #152 AF&AM for 58 years as well as being a member of the First United Methodist Church in Emporia. ��Helen Joyce preceded him in death on February 14, 2013. He was also preceded by three grandsons, Clint Yeager, Brian "BJ" Stasiulis and Travis Makin; a great-grandson, Jeremy Jenkins; step son, Terry Makin; five brothers and five sisters. He will remain in the hearts of his daughters, Linda Stasiulis and husband Tex of Brookfield, Wisconsin and Pat Yeager and husband Calvin of Neosho Rapids, Kansas; a twin sister, Edith Reeves of Overland Park; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Cremation is planned for Elijah with a celebration of his life being held at 11:00 AM., Thursday, October 22, 2015 at the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home.
