Diane Dee Harrison

October 21, 1952 — April 19, 2025

Madison, Kansas

Diane Ziegler Harrison, a loving mom, grandma, sister, aunt, cousin and friend was reunited with husband Mark on April 19, 2025 after passing away suddenly, but peacefully at her home.

Diane was born on October 21, 1952 to Arthur Deloss Ziegler and Vivian Lucille (Shunk) Ziegler and spent her life in Madison.

Survivors include her only child, Jason (Marcie) Harrison, grandchildren Kortnie (Dallas) Thompson, Chase Harrison and her great granddaughter Haddie Thompson. Diane was to become a great grandma again in just a few months.

She also leaves behind her brother Mark (Peggy) Ziegler whom she shared a special bond with and enjoyed collecting treasures and talking about family history together along with nieces Nicole (Nate) Smith and Bailey (Nick) Zink. She also leaves behind sister-in-law Becky (Steve) Ziegler who she enjoyed many laughs and a lot of special time, as well as nephew Brad Ziegler. Diane was also more of a mother figure than an aunt to nieces Tonya (Brad) Heineken and Shannon (Marc) Ballinger, after Vivian’s passing, opening up her home to them and being everything a mother should be until her last day.

She also leaves behind sister-in-law Jackie (Russ) Harrison and their children Missy (Don) Smies and Chad (Stacy) Harrison.

Diane was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Mark, in 2012 whom she lost in an automobile accident that forever changed her life. While she loved her time here on earth with her family and friends, she was never the same after October 16, 2012 and even though she will be missed, it is a comfort to know she is with the love of her life.

Also preceding her in death were her parents and brothers Gary Ziegler, Roger Ziegler, and Steve Ziegler.

Diane married her high school sweetheart Mark Harrison on August 7, 1971 where they spent their time together gardening, racing, traveling and spending time with their family.

While not blood related, Diane was welcomed into daughter-in-law Marcie’s family with open arms in 1998, but the relationships grew after Mark’s passing celebrating many holidays and road trips with the Eccles family.

She had amazing bonds with each of her many nieces and nephews and loved them all unconditionally.

Diane graduated from Madison High School in 1970 and attended Emporia State University living with her forever- best friend, Rosemary (Gilkison) McGuire. After one year of college, Diane and Mark started their family with Jason arriving in 1972.

Diane worked at Pope Drug and The Madison Bank with her mother Vivian for several years before she started working for the McClelland family in 1984 where she worked as an operations manager for many years in the valve industry. Diane retired in September of 2023 from ASC (formerly known as ABZ Valves).

Diane was a loyal friend whom she had lifelong friendships with many, but after the loss of Mark, many of those friendships grew stronger and she looked forward to all the fun lunch dates.

Her family was everything to her, especially her grandchildren. They were her pride and joy and she never missed an event or activity they were in. Kortnie won her heart first sharing a special bond from the beginning and Diane shines through in Kortnie in many ways. Chase’s regular “pop-in” visits were special to them both and they spent many hours hashing out the world's problems in a way only the two of them could.

She loved her “junk” and had a passion for reading. She was creative, drawing or sewing anything when she chose to. She loved flowers and for years her yard looked like something out of a magazine. In her earlier years she loved to cook, but in recent years her famous chocolate chip cookies were her constant and she enjoyed gifting to others.

Diane was kind, loving, supportive, and funny and will live on in the hearts of her family and friends and will be remembered for her sense of humor, her loyalty and most definitely the love she had for them all.

Please join us in celebrating her life at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 25, 2025, at the Global Methodist Church of Madison, Madison, Kansas. Interment will be at #8 Cemetery, Madison, Kansas.
