DeLores A. Arb, 88, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.
She was born on August 25, 1938, in Emporia, Kansas, the daughter of Leo and Elsie Richards Zumbrunn. DeLores attended Emporia High School and graduated with the Class of 1956.
DeLores worked at Woolworths in Emporia after high school. She later earned her C.N.A. certification and took a job at Peterson’s Nursing Home in Osage City. DeLores later worked at Brookside Manor in Overbrook. She retired in the early 2000’s.
She married Leo N. Arb on April 25, 1959, in Emporia. DeLores and Leo divorced in 2008, but they remained friends and active parts of each other’s lives.
DeLores loved raising flowers and caring for her cats. If her computer was on, there was a high probability she was playing solitaire. She enjoyed dancing when she could and having fun in general. Her greatest love of all was her family. She treasured each family member and looked forward to every opportunity to get together.
DeLores will live on in the hearts and memories of her daughters, DeAnna (Phillip) Starkebaum of Scranton, Dawna (Bob) Samson of Topeka, Janice Gillum of Wichita, Becky Arb (Miguel Farias, Jr.) of Scranton, Valerie Arb (Jason Bevitt) of Topeka; a son, Philip (Mitzie) Parsons of Scranton; a sister, Karen Utlaut of Marysville, Missouri; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; numerous extended family and a community of friends. DeLores was preceded in death by a daughter, Ramona Parsons and her parents, Leo and Elsie.
Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, October 9, 2026, at the Crossroads Community Church in Scranton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be held at 3:00 P.M., Friday at Lena Valley Cemetery, north of Lamont, Kansas. There will be a luncheon following the services in Scranton at the Scranton V.F.W. Memorial contributions may be made to the Scranton First Responders and sent in care of the VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. 6th St., Osage City, Kansas 66523.
