David Brian Hess

David ‘Brian’ Hess, 54, formerly of Madison, KS, passed away August 10, 2022, at his home in Lawrence.

Brian was born in Emporia, KS on May 29, 1968. He spent his childhood growing up and attending school in Madison, KS. He graduated from Madison High School salutatorian of the class of 1986. Brian was currently working at Grandstand in Lawrence.

Brian had a profound love of nature, from the tallest tree to the smallest insect, he respected all aspects of life. He also deeply loved animals, frequently asking donations be made on his birthday to shelters in his area. To keep with Brian’s birthday tradition, memorials may be made to the Emporia Animal Shelter, c/o VanArsdale Funeral Home, PO Box 488, Madison, Kansas 66860.

Preceding Brian in death are paternal grandparents, Clair and Lucille Hess of Madison.

He is lovingly remembered by his family; parents, David L. and Connie Hess of Madison; sisters, Stephanie Calderwood (John) and Jennifer Hess; brother Eric Hess (Kari); and his nieces and nephews, Holden Wilson, Jake Calderwood, Ashton, Drew, Alli, and Aubree Hess.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
