Colleen R. Shirley

Collen R. Shirley, 92, passed away, Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Osage Nursing Center in Osage City.

Colleen Rae Bolyard was born January 9, 1932 in Rural Osage County, Kansas. She was one of ten children of William and Opal Mary (Skidmore) Bolyard. She graduated from Osage City High School.

She was joined in marriage to Harry L. “Bud” Shirley on May 23, 1954 in Osage City. To this union, two sons were born, Michael and John.

Colleen had worked in the kitchen at Osage City High School.

She survived by a son, John (Tracy) Shirley of Barclay; five sisters, Susie Carlson of Osage City, Nat Persinger of Osage City, Janie (Ted) Chesley of Idaho, Annie Williamson of Leavenworth, Billy (Sharyl) Bolyard of Osage City and Tommy (Sharon) Bolyard of Olathe and three grandchildren.

Colleen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bud; a son, Michael L. Shirley; three grandchildren, Ethan, Ashten Christine and Caleb Shirley; two brothers, Mickey and Jimmy Bolyard and a sister, Mary Jones.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Osage City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. 6th, Osage City, KS 66523. Condolences may be expressed at Vanarsdalefs.com.
