Christopher Dean Thompson

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Christopher Dean Thompson, who passed away at his home in Lee's Summit, Missouri, on August 31, 2026, at the age of 46.

Chris was born on April 2, 1980, in Emporia, Kansas, to Calvin Dean Thompson and Nancy Jane Greenwood Kile. He was known for his hard work, loyalty, and deep love for his family.

A highly skilled mechanic, Chris took great pride in his work and was respected for his knowledge, dedication, and willingness to help others. He served as Shop Manager at Herrington Automotive, where his expertise, strong work ethic, honesty, and commitment to quality earned the respect of his employers, coworkers, and customers alike. Prior to his time at Herrington Automotive, Chris worked for Bestmark Express, where he established himself as a talented and dependable mechanic. Whether solving a difficult mechanical problem or lending a hand to a friend in need, he approached life with determination.

Above all else, Chris was a devoted husband and proud father. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family and creating memories with those he loved. He was a passionate football fan who enjoyed cheering on his favorite team, the KC Chiefs, and sharing that enthusiasm with family and friends.

Chris will live on in the hearts of his beloved wife, Alexandra D. Thompson; his son, Brayden D. Thompson; his stepdaughter, Harper D. Johnson; his father, Calvin D. Thompson and wife, Brenda; his mother, Nancy J. Kile and husband, Gary; his sister, Mary J. Buttel and husband, Kevin; his nieces, Layla and Mya Buttel; along with numerous extended family members and a community of friends whose lives were enriched by his presence.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Billy D. and Anna M. Greenwood, and William D. and Dixie R. Thompson.

Though his time with us was far too short, the love he shared and the memories he created will remain in our hearts forever. Chris will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 10, at 10:00 a.m. at Blakely Cemetery, west of Madison, Kansas. Family and friends are invited to attend as they gather to honor and celebrate Chris's life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brayden Thompson's Educational Fund in support of Chris's son and his future educational pursuits.
