Cherlyn Kay Meyer

Cherlyn Kay Meyer, passed from this earth on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at the Homestead Assisted Living facility in Osage City, Kansas, where she had resided for several years. She made friends immediately and was lovingly cared for by the staff and Ascend Hospice. She was born on July 28, 1945, on the family farm south of Gridley, Kansas, to Harvey A and Agnes Annilee (Jasper) Meyer.

Cherlyn attended the Nickeltown rural school, Gridley grade school and moved to Madison in the 7th grade, graduating from Madison High School with the class of 1963. She worked at Galbraith Drug in Madison for several years before moving to El Dorado with the family and pursuing a career in finance. She later moved to Kansas City and enjoyed a career with the Visiting Nursing Association, scheduling home nurse visits until her retirement. Cherlyn moved back to Emporia in 2021 to be closer to the family.

Cherlyn is survived by her brother and wife, Harvey Lynn and Mary Meyer of Madison, a nephew and wife Barry Lynn and Nancy Meyer of Elkhart, Ks, great nephew and wife, Guthrie Lynn and Kyndall Meyer and their son, Palmer Lynn Meyer of Coweta, Ok. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Annilee Meyer.

Cherlyn was a member of the Madison Methodist Church, and the Rainbows United and the White Rose Chapter #297 Order of the Eastern Star of Gridley, KS for 62 years.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 25th,2026 at 10:30 AM at the Madison Methodist Church, Madison, KS. A family inurnment at the Gridley Cemetery will be held later. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to the Madison Methodist Church, pew cushion fund. VanArsdale Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
