1944 Carol 2025

Carol Louise Hamman

June 23, 1944 — September 10, 2025

Kansas City, Kansas

Carol Louise Hamman, 81, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away on September 10, 2025.

Carol was born on June 23, 1944, in Emporia, Kansas, to Clifford “Edwin” and Marian McCormick Hamman. She spent her early months near Ottumwa, KS, before moving to the family farm south of Hartford, where she grew up. Carol graduated from Hartford High School in 1962. She remained close to her classmates throughout her life and was honored with an Appreciation Plaque at their 25th class reunion.

After high school, Carol worked at Hallmark in Emporia for 11 months. In September 1963, she moved to Kansas City, Missouri, and began her long career with Western Auto Supply in the Accounts Payable Department. Carol dedicated 35 years to Western Auto, serving as a supervisor for 17 of those years, and eventually relocated to Kansas City, Kansas.

In May 1998, Carol and her sister Sharan launched their own home-based business, Hamman Accounting Service, which they operated faithfully until their retirement in January 2025.

Carol’s faith was central to her life. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior in April 1954 at the Hartford Christian Church. In April 1970, she transferred her membership to Stony Point Christian Church, where she and Sharan co-sponsored a youth group for grades 3–6 for 24 years. Together, they also taught a Sunday School class for 2 and 3-year-olds for 40 years, from 1975 to 2015.

Carol had a wide range of interests, especially genealogy, and she was the family’s go-to source for “bright ideas” and endless photographs. Above all, she cherished time with her family and the children she taught and mentored through the years. With deep affection, she called them all “HER KIDS”—whether they were 2, 12, 20, or even 40 years old.

Carol was preceded in death by her father Edwin, who passed in 1988 and her mother, Marian, who passed in 2010.

She is survived by her sister, Sharan Hamman of the home in Kansas City.
