Betty Joan Hughs, 73, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2025, at University of Kansas-St. Francis Campus.
Betty Joan Clough was born June 3, 1952, in Topeka, Kansas and was the daughter of Rev. Jack Ferguson and Beatrice Mae (Womack) Clough. She graduated from High School in Gallatin, Missouri. Betty was an aspiring artist who loved God and her family with all her heart. She loved watching nature and admiring the natural beauty God had created in this world. She always did her best to make sure her children and grandchildren had all they needed. Whether it was food or a little bit of gas money. She always welcomed anyone coming by even for just a hug. She had a big heart and will be sorely missed.
Betty was joined in marriage to Joe David Hughs. To this union, seven children were born, Heidi, Joe David Jr., Christian, Jacob, Thorpe, KAJEYA, Sterling.
Betty will be forever remembered by her husband, her children, her sister, Erin Dent of Plano, Texas and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jacob Adam Hughs; her sister, Dorothy Beatrice Clough.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 12, 2025, at VanArsdale Funeral Chapel in Osage City. Family will receive friends for viewing, Friday evening, July 11 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial to follow service at Alpine Cemetery.
