Annette Ratzlaff, 83. passed away Friday, May 9, 2025 at her home in Hartford.

She was born on March 3, 1942 at Poppylot Farm, Methwold Downham, Great Britain, the daughter of Herburt and Doris Palmer Mothersole.

Annette moved to Hartford, Kansas in 1961 and began a new chapter in her book of life. On July 28, 1972 she was joined in marriage to Richard Ratzlaff. They enjoyed 29 years of marriage until Richard’s death on August 25, 2001.

She had an innate appreciation for tradition and order. If something was worth doing, it was worth doing correctly. She took pride in her flower gardens and the simple peace that came with setting in her back garden and enjoying nature.

Annette will live on in the hearts and many memories of her daughter, Farah Ferguson and her husband Jim of Hartford; a son, Stephen Herrick of Hartford; a daughter-in-law, Tracy Herrick of Emporia; a sister, Vivian York of Great Britian; grandchildren, Dustin Hamman (Katie) of Emporia, Brody Herrick (Lexi) of Nebraska, Haley Fowler (Eli) of Emporia, Josie Herrick (Jon) of Kansas City and Dugan Herrick of Arkansas; six great-grandchildren and a community of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband , Richard, a son, Jeff Herrick a sister Yvonne Rushbrooke as well as her parents.

The family invites you to join them as they celebrate her life at 11:00 A.M., May 17th at the Hartford United Methodist Church.
