Anita Mae (Nelson) Morgan, 80, of Lebo, Kansas was called home to her Heavenly Father on August 28, 2026.

Anita was born September 13, 1945, in Sheridan, MO, the daughter of Viron Anderson and Verneda Lee (Van Ausdall) Nelson. She attended school and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1964. In August of the same year, she joined the United States Air Force, where she devoted 8 years in service of her country. Her military career carried Anita to several stations, including 2 years at Eglin AFB in Florida, 3 years at Yakota Air Base in Japan, 2 years at Offutt AFB south at Omaha, NE, and 1-year United States Air Force Academy in Colorado, where she concluded her military career. Anita continued to serve her country an additional 30 years in the Civil Service. She initially served 10 years as a purchasing agent and construction contract negotiator for the US Army Corps of Engineers while completing her education with a Master Degree in Business Management. She then returned to the US Air Force as the Deputy Director of Contracting and served in that position for 20 years until she retired.

Anita was a member of the Flint Hills Bible Church in Emporia, Kansas. Her commitment to her faith and relationship with God and her Lord and Savior were evident in the 17 years she was actively involved within her Church and with her Church family. She participated in several women’s bible studies, enjoyed her work in the church kitchen and the annual Iron Man summit as a server and as a nursery attendant.

Anita was united in marriage to Rick Morgan on October 5, 1984. This year would mark their 42nd anniversary of sharing life, love, and adventures together.

Preceding Anita in death are her parents, Viron and Verneda Nelson; brothers, Ronnie Lee Nelson and Orville Dean Nelson and half-brother, Carl Meadows. She is survived by her husband, Rick Morgan of their home in Lebo, KS; son, Jason Lee Morgan; sister, Rebecca Sue Nelson-Newton (James Newton); Sister-in-law Barbara Nelson (Orville Dean Nelson), brother, William Frank Nelson (Kim Nelson); her aunt, Marcia Henry, with whom she shared a close and cherished relationship; and countless other nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.

A Memorial Service celebrating Anita's life will be held at 11:00 on Friday, September 4, 2026 at Flint Hills Bible Church, 1836 US-50, Emporia, KS 66801. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Lincoln Cemetery, Lebo, KS. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Flint Hills Bible Church c/o Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home & Crematory, PO Box 43, Lebo, KS 66856.
