Agnesann Mansfield, age 83, of Emporia, Kan., died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025, at Chase County Care and Rehab in Cottonwood Falls, Kan., where she had been living since September. She preferred to be known as San, her life-long nickname.
Agnes Ann was born March 13, 1942, in Pittsburg, Kan., to Arthur and Bernadene (Taylor) Bourlard. She combined her name to Agnesann as an adult. She was a graduate of Argonia (Kan.) High School and Pittsburg State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree. Her career was in retail. For several years before she retired, she worked for Pier One headquarters as a certified logistics coordinator for overseas imports.
A woman of varied interests, Agnesann took flying lessons to pilot a small plane, make and decorate ceramic bowls, loved her pets of several finches, many cats, and a dog. After her husband died, she learned to sail and joined a yacht club in Arlington, Tex., where they lived for many years. After she retired and moved to Emporia, Agnesann had a quiet life of reading mysteries and solving Sudoku puzzles.
She was married to William Linebaugh. They divorced. She married Edward Michael Mansfield who died in 1997. Agnesann is survived by a brother Lynn Bourlard of Wichita, Kan., a sister Kay Lingenfelter of Emporia, Kan., beloved nieces Leigh Ayers of Emporia, Kan., and Laura Lingenfelter of Osage City, Kan., and four adored great-nieces and -nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Carolyn Robinson, and nephews John Robinson and Bryan Robinson. Her family plans private services later.
