William Scott Trueblood

November 15, 1961 — March 7, 2024

William “Scott” Trueblood, 62, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2024 at a Topeka hospital.

He was born November 15, 1961 in Emporia, Kansas the son of William R. and Shirley Scott Trueblood.  Scott  attended Osage City High School and graduated with the Class of 1980.

As a young man, Scott began traveling with his uncle Paul showing Polled Hereford  Cattle.  He began helping in 1976 and continued through 1984. Their journey took them across the county showing prize cattle for many owners which included members of Alabama and Kenny Rogers.

Scott would spend several years living in Virginia before returning to Kansas where he worked as a Banquet Manager at the Capitol Plaza Hotel & Convention Center. His love of cattle and ranching called him back to Osage County five years later when he began working with his Uncle Paul again, custom finishing cattle. Scott always considered Barclay as his home and remained there until his death.

Scott held memberships in the American Salers Association and was serving as the President of the Osage City Eagles Club.

He will live on in the hearts and memories of his mother and step father, Shirley and Roger Betts of Thermopolis, Wyoming, a son, Andrew Trueblood and his wife Ashley of Earlysville, Virginia; a sister Crystal Trueblood of Lenexa; grandchildren, Reagan and Stetson Trueblood; and three nephews, Jackson Sixbury; Austin Trueblood and Blake Trueblood, his devoted companion and best friend of sixteen years, Nancy Jones of Reading; numerous extended family and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his father, William R. Trueblood and his brother, Brent Trueblood.

Because of Scott’s willingness to always take time to teach and offer advice to young showmen and show women, memorial contributions may be made to the Scott Trueblood Memorial which will be used to benefit Jr. National Youth Scholarships.
