William Lee "Bill" Allen

October 3, 1939 — July 4, 2015

��William Lee "Bill" Allen, 75, passed away early Saturday, July 4, 2015 at his home in Eskridge. He lost his battle with cancer. ��He was born October 3, 1939, in Topeka, the son of John A. and Iva Thomas Allen. He attended State Street Grade School in Topeka before moving to Eskridge in 1951 where he attended Eskridge Grade School. Bill graduated from Eskridge Rural High School with the Class of 1958. ��Bill worked for Coca Cola Bottling Co. in Topeka and the Wabaunsee County Hwy Department in Alma. He went on to manage the Eskridge Lumber Company, retiring in 2004 after working there for 33 years. He served with the Kansas Army National Guard Headquarters, 169th Support Battalion from 1961 until 1967. His member ships included the Eskridge United Methodist Church and the Dover Masonic Lodge #138 AF & AM. ��He was joined in marriage to Marilyn Kraus on September 4, 1959 in Eskridge. Marilyn survives. Other survivors include a son, Rodney Lee Allen and his wife La Deen and grandsons, Dayton Lee Allen and Tanner Eugene Allen of Keene, Kansas; sister, Ivajean Allen and her husband Archie of Silver Lake, Kansas; numerous extended family and dear friends.�� ��Cremation is planned with Graveside services being held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the Eskridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the VanArsdale Funeral Chapel in Eskridge. Due to Bill's love for hunting, fishing and the outdoors, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the "Beau Arndt Foundation" and sent in care of the VanArsdale Funeral Home, P.O. Box #338, Eskridge, Kansas 66423.
