Vernon Russell Riggs

Vernon Russell Riggs, 43, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at his home near Hartford. He was born March 26, 1972 in El Dorado, Kansas the son of Lyle Jay and Connie Elaine Karraker Riggs. Vernon graduated from Madison High school with the Class of 1990. He also received his certification in Electronic Technology from Flint Hills Vo. Tech. He served briefly in the Unites States Navy before receiving a medical discharge. He married Cathy Faye Clark on February 14, 1995. They were later divorced. Vernon drove a truck throughout the Midwest and United States. His first love was being a "Bull Hauler." He most recently drove for Thomsen and Sons out of Gridley. He was joined in marriage to Katherine Anne Hottman on August 17, 1999 in Mesa Arizona. Vernon will forever live in the hearts of his wife, Kate of their home; daughters, Jordan, Destiny and Courtney of the home; sons, Joshua of the home and Jacob of Illinois; his mother, Connie Karraker of Madison; father, Lyle Riggs (Sara) of Madison; brothers, Kevin Riggs of Madison and Casey Riggs of Hartford. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 20, 2015 at the Madison United Methodist Church . Burial will follow services at Blakely Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the VanArsdale Funeral Home in Madison.
