Valee Lynn Brown

Valee Lynn Brown, 60, passed away Sunday May 26, 2024 at her home in Osage City, surrounded by her family.


She was born October 6, 1963 in Emporia, Kansas the daughter of Theodore and Una Prost Bronson. Valee grew up in Osage City and graduated from Osage City High School with the Class of 1982. Following high school, Valee attended cosmetology school in Topeka.


Valee’s father passed away when she was a young women. Her stepfather, Mike Bronson adopted Valee and was always considered grandpa Bronson by her children.


She was forever joined in marriage to Steve Brown on September 6, 1985 in Topeka. Valee and Steve briefly lived in Illinois and Arizona before moving back to Osage City in 1988. After a few months they bought a home just south of town and raised their family. They have remained there ever since.


Valee spent several years as a para for the Osage School District. She later owned and operated Country Clipper Salon. In recent years, Valee worked as a clerk in the Osage County Treasurer Office.


Valee enjoyed spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed time with her two grandsons whom she adored. Valee also enjoyed crafting and spending time in Florida with the love of her life.


Valee will live on in the hearts and memories of her devoted husband, Steve; her daughters, Ashley Richards and her husband Jon of New Braunfels, Texas and Jennifer Baxley of Austin, Texas; her grandchildren, Jordan and Reid Richards; a sister, Rosella Reese of Osage City. She was preceded in death by her mother, Una; her father, Theodore and her adopted father, Mike.


Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, June 3, 2024 at the Community Covenant Church in Osage City . Inurnment will follow at Osage City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 6:30 P.M. at the VanArsdale Funeral Chapel in Osage City. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s and sent in care of the funeral chapel. Condolences may be expressed at vanarsdalefs.com.
