Sheryl Lynn Hagman, 60, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at her home north of Madison.
She was born May 8, 1963 in Olathe, Kansas the daughter of David J. and Sandra L. Victor Hagman. Sheryl attended DeSoto High School where she participated in track and field. Her hard work and athleticism earned her a trip to the State track meet in the high jump. She went on to graduate with the Class of 1981.
In September of 1990, she was joined in marriage to Loren Rockers in Olathe where the young couple would make their home. Sheryl worked as a cook in area restaurants while raising her family. They often enjoyed time together while camping and fishing. Sheryl was truly an outdoor spirit who loved to garden and passed down her appreciation of nature to her children. Loren and Sheryl later divorced and she moved to Mound City, Kansas.
While in Mound City, Sheryl worked as a cook at the local school and also cooked at local restaurants. After eight years she moved to Spring Hill. Sheryl’s journey would change direction when she met her longtime companion, Bill Cheever. Sheryl and Bill made their home north of Madison five years ago and they have been together ever since. They loved to attend car shows together and go to the Drag Races whenever the opportunity arose.
Sheryl will live on in the hearts and memories of her daughter, Cassie Tate and her husband Brian of Shawnee; sons, Travis Rockers of Emporia and Tony Rockers of Olpe; a grandson, Thomas Tate of Shawnee; a sister, Lori Simmons and her husband Larry of Mound City; a brother, David Hagman of Raytown, Missouri; her longtime companion Bill Cheever of their home; numerous extended family and a community of friends.
Sheryl’s wishes were to be cremated. Her family will be gathering to celebrate her life at a later date. Condolences may be expressed at vanarsdalefs.com.
