ROMONA ALICE BARTEE
Romona Alice Bartee, Osage City, passed away December 14, 2016 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, KS, after a brief illness. She was 76.
Romona was born on October 7, 1940, in Burlington, KS, the daughter of Oscar and Myrtle Kennard. She graduated from Waverly High School in 1958. She graduated from beauty school in Topeka, KS, after High School.
Romona worked as a beautician for over 40 years, and enjoyed having her shop in her own home.
Romona was a member of the Sunflower Steppers, the Red Hats, volunteered at ECAT, and hosted a Wednesday's sewing group.
She loved to cook, sew, quilt, read, woodworking, painting, gardening, taking care of her flowers, camping with friends and family, traveling, attending her grand kids and great grandson's sporting events, programs, graduations, weddings and being a grandma and great grandma.
Romona married Larry Bartee on July 17, 1959 at Hall Summit, KS. The couple celebrated 52 years of marriage.
Romona was preceded in death by her husband Larry Bartee, a daughter-in-law, Dena Carson Bartee, her mother and father Oscar
and Myrtle; and a brother, Jack Kennard.
She is survived by a son, Mike Bartee, Osage City, a daughter, Janet Bartee McFarland and husband Marc, Osage City, a sister, Loma Hively, Mulvane, a brother Jerry Kennard, Pomona, five grandchildren, Kelsey Menke and husband Craig, Neosho Rapids, Tanner Bartee and wife Melissa, El Paso, TX, Megan McFarland and fiancé George Thomas, Lawrence, Tyler Bartee, Lawrence, and Jacob McFarland, Leavenworth, 4 great-grand children, Carson, Cohen and Cash Menke, Neosho Rapids, and Juliette Bartee, El Paso, TX.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 19, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church in Osage City. Family will receive friends Monday from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the church Memorial contributions may be made to Romona Bartee Memorial Fund to be designated at a later date and may be sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N.
