Randy Bruce Perkins, 72, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2020 at his home in New Strawn.
He was born June 17, 1948 in Beloit, Kansas the son of Delbert M. and Margaret A Utt Perkins. Randy’s family spent his earlier years living in Downs, Atwood and later Colby.
Randy enlisted in the United States Army on June 12, 1967. He served with the 82nd Airborne until receiving and honorable discharge on June 11, 1970. After the military, Randy began a career as a Welder and Millwright. He specialized in the area of energy plants which took him throughout the United States including Georgia and New Mexico.
After spending years in the work force, Randy attended Emporia State University for two years. He was a member of the Burlington Masonic Lodge #66 and was a card carrying member of Millwright Local #1529 in Kansas City, Missouri as well as having worked with Millwright Local #1421.
Randy was joined in marriage to Glenda Lanning on November 25, 1988 in New Strawn.
He will live on in the hearts and memories of his wife, Glenda of their home; a daughter, Terri Harrison and her husband Rusty of Georgia; a son, Brett Perkins and his wife Brooke of Georgia; step daughters, Pamela Thompson and her husband Brian of Delia, Kansas and Amanda Hartshorn and her husband Brock of Topeka; sisters, Ann Kohlman of Salina, Kelly Rall of Arkansas and Kim Perkins Williams of Dixon, Missouri; a brother, Chuck Perkins and his wife Winona of Colby; fourteen grandchildren, Kale, Reid, Breana, Nicole, Alex, Destiny, Taylor, Kory, Mason, Jeff, Samantha, Alyssa, Jenna and Jessica; three great- grandchildren, Bryson, Maylee and Gunner; numerous extended family and friends. Randy was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Larry Kohlman and his first wife, Gwen.
Cremation is planned with no services scheduled at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to the Capper Foundation and sent in care of the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home at Box #43, Lebo, Kansas 66856. Condolences may be expressed at vanarsdalefs.com.
