Nyla Jeanne Shaner

Nyla J. Shaner, 70, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Holiday Resort in Emporia.

Nyla Jeanne Smith was born December 15,1947 in Emporia, the daughter of John Junior and Vesta Lorraine (Windsor) Smith. She finished her sophomore year of high school in 1963. She received her GED at Emporia State University and went to Flint Hills Vo-Tech School and graduated as a L.P.N. in 1977. She then went Newman Memorial School of Nursing "Bridge Program" in 1984 and graduated in 1986 as a registered nurse.

She was joined in marriage to Richard L. Marks in 1963, to this union three children were born, Nyla Lorraine, Rich and Anthony. They later divorced in 1980. On May 22, 1998, she was joined in marriage to Marion Joseph Shaner in Lebo.

She was baptized at the Bethel Baptist Church in Emporia. Later tranferred to Lebo Baptist Church.

Nyla is survived by her husband, Marion of the home; a daughter, Nyla Lorraine Freeman of Emporia; two sons, Rich F. (Michelle) Marks of Lebo and Anthony Shane Marks of Emporia; two step-daughters, Joline M. (James) Baugh and Marcine (Kenneth) Moldenhauer; a brother-in- law, John Brewer; a sister-in-law, Sandy Smith of Lebo; four grandchildren and a step grandchild and two great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Peg L. Brewer and a brother, Brian D. Smith.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home in Lebo. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial to follow service at Lincoln Cemetery in Lebo.
