Newell Edward Thomas

Newell Edward Thomas, 94 of Lebo, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at the Osage Nursing Center,                                                        He was born March 11, 1923 on the family farm south of Lebo, the son of Thomas J. and Edna Rosine Thomas. Newell spent his entire life in Lebo, raising cattle and farming just south of town. He attended Lebo High School. He was a member of the Lebo Baptist Church.  Newell married the love of his life, Clara M. Rosenquist on April 1, 1948 in Burlington. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage until Clara’s death on November 3, 2007. He will live on in the hearts of his son, Roger Thomas of Lebo; two grandsons, Ben and James Thomas of Lebo and three great-grandchildren. Newell was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Sue Thomas in 1973 and a brother, Nolen Thomas.  A celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Lebo Baptist Church. Burial will follow services at Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:00 P.M., Friday evening at the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home in Lebo.
