Nancy A Quandt

Nancy (Anderson) Quandt passed away Friday, June 7, 2024.

Nancy Anderson was born September 13, 1946. She was adopted by Robert and Betty Anderson in 1954 and lived with her 2 brothers and 1 sister in Ottawa, Kansas. Nancy married young, to Jan Jefferis, also of Ottawa in 1964 and welcomed a daughter, who they named Tracy, the following year. After Tracy, 3 more children followed: Sam, Adam, and Mandi. Nancy and Jan separated many years later.

Nancy went on to marry Jene Quandt of Iowa in 1993, and they lived together for many years though they separated in 2007. During their time together they lived in Emporia, KS; Scribner, NE; and Carroll, IA. They co-parented Jene’s son Tyler, and Nancy’s children Adam and Mandi.

Nancy was such a lovely, spirited woman. Full of life, love, and beauty. She loved to shop and sport the latest trends. Everyone who knew her will remember her style that perfectly complimented her warmth and sunny disposition. She had a gift of making everyone feel special and welcome. She was especially great with babies and elderly friends. She was a wonderful listener, a thoughtful gift giver, and loved to share sweets. She loved collecting things like angels, snowmen, and birdhouses just to name a few.

Nancy held many careers. She worked many odd jobs, but also served as the general manager of Magic Mirror (fitness center in Emporia, KS), a personnel clerk at IBP, a file clerk at Scribner Insurance, a pizza chef at Gambino’s pizza, a nanny, and others.

In her younger years she enjoyed being active, playing tennis, riding horses, and playing the guitar. She loved to sing and enjoyed dancing the two-step.

What she cherished the most were her kids and grandkids. She could always be heard saying “I live for my kids and grandbabies.” Her kids fondly remember every birthday and Christmas being very special and personalized. She always knew everyone’s favorites and made them feel so special and seen.

Nancy suffered a few injuries in the 90’s that caused some trauma to her body and cut short her active lifestyle. She frequently recounted how badly she wanted to run, ride bikes, and play tennis again.

Nancy is preceded in death by both of her parents, her son Samuel Jefferis, son-in-law Jeff Herrick, her ex-husband/friend Jene Quandt, and her step-son, Tyler Quandt.

She is survived by her three remaining children Tracy Herrick (and grandchildren Haley, Josie, Dugan of Emporia, KS; great grandchildren Rallend and Roselyn); Adam Jefferis (wife Rynn of Los Angeles, CA); Mandi Wooledge (and grandchildren Timber, River, and Summit of Lincoln, NE); daughter-in-law Christine Jefferis (and grandchildren James and Nicole of

CO); siblings, David Anderson (wife Ann of OK); Chuck Anderson (wife Patty of NV); Addie Weigand (of KS).
