Nadine Cowan

Nadine Cowan, 104, passed away Tuesday evening, March 3, 2020 at Osage Nursing Center in Osage City.

Nadine Lee was born September 11, 1915 in Clayton, New Mexico, the daughter of Noah C. and Minnie (Dewees) Lee.

She was joined in marriage to Royce McCall Cowan on November 9, 1934 in Ballinger, Texas. To this union, five children were born. She had worked as a nurse’s aide and was a homemaker to her family.

Nadine was a member of the Flint Hills Baptist Church and she also enjoyed flowers, gardening and any outdoor activity.

She will be forever remembered by her daughter, Myrtle Joyce “Sally” Walker of Mt. View, Arkansas; a son, Russell Dean (Sharon) Cowan, Sr. of Osage City; two daughter in law, Linda Cowan of Osage City and Crystal Cowan of Oskaloosa; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren.

Nadine was preceded in death by parents; her husband, Royce; three sons, Warren Cowan, Houston Cowan and Walter Dale Cowan; three sisters, Melba Louise Lee, Florence O’Delia Seals and Wilma Hearn and two brothers, Noah Clifford Lee and Amos Earl Lee.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 7, 2020 at VanArsdale Funeral Chapel in Osage City. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:30 till 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Alpine Cemetery, south of Osage City. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth, Osage City, KS 66523. Condolences may be expressed at Vanarsdalefs.
