Mike J. Bartlett

Mike J. Bartlett, 60, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024 at his home near Lebo.

He was born April 19, 1963 in Stafford, Kansas the son of James Jerry and Carma Helquist Bartlett. Mike attended Emporia High School and graduated with the Class of 1981. He went on to earn a degree in Building Trades at the Flint Hills Technical College in 1983.

Mike took a position at Dolly Madison that lasted over twenty seven years. He worked his way up to Production Supervisor before retiring in 2012. He used his free time to work his ranch and build his herd of Angus cattle.

He was joined in marriage to Linda Ehle on August 12, 1989 in Emporia. Their courtship lasted eight years before he proposed marriage and they have been happily married over 34 years. In 1995 they made their home on the current farm southeast of Lebo.

Mike loved to be outdoors. Some of his many interests included hunting, fishing and trapping. He often shared memories of pheasant and elk hunts but his favorite was hunting coyotes in and around Coffey County. He also loved to play cards with his friends on Wednesdays at the Heidi in Lebo. Mike loved sharing games of all types with his family and the occasional trip to the Prairie Band Casino was always in play.

Mike’s legacy will live on through his wife, Linda Bartlett of their home; his daughter, Callie A. Fischer and husband Bradly of Lebo; a son Darren Bartlett and girlfriend Mackenzie of Lebo; grandchildren, Colton and Camden Fischer; his mother and step father, Carma and Louie Barb of Emporia; sisters, Beckie Turner of Utah and Tonetta Walecki and husband Frank of Parkville, Mo.; a brother, Jim Bartlett and wife Cheri of Topeka; several nieces and nephews; his devoted Labrador, Pepper; numerous extended family and a community of friends. He was preceded in death by his father, James Jerry Bartlett and a sister, Brenda Bartlett.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home & Crematory in Lebo. Inurnment will follow services at Lincoln Cemetery

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mike Bartlett Memorial Fund to benefit 4-H youth and sent in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed at vanarsdalefs.com.
