Mary R. Scott

Mary R. Scott, 89 of Lebo, passed away late Tuesday evening at the Life Care Center in Burlington. She was born June 7, 1927 in Wellington, Kansas the daughter of Charles and Margaret South Wickery.

Mary was joined in marriage to Ray Scott on February 25, 1948 in Arkansas City. They began their lives together operating a dairy farm in Cowley County before moving to the Key West Township east of Lebo in 1966 to continue their dairy operation. A portion of their farm was given up during the construction of 75 highway and interstate 35 which is now part of Beto Junction. This prompted them to leave the farm and move into Lebo in the mid 1970's.

After moving to Lebo she worked as a cook at the Lebo Diner and Tasty Freeze. Mary would later work as a custodian with the Green Thumb Program through the Lebo School.

Mary was a member of the Lebo United Methodist Church.

She will live on in the hearts of her daughter, Kathy Woods and her husband John of Wichita; sons, Ken Scott of Lebo, Charles Scott and wife Linda of Oketo and Rick Scott and wife Linda of Lebo. Mary held a special place in her heart for her ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Gary and a sister, Lila Jean Faircloth.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, December 19, 2016 at the Lebo United Methodist Church. Burial will follow services at Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. Sunday evening at the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home.
