MARY JOAN FRY OSAGE CITY -- Mary Joan Fry, 92, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Vintage Park at Osage City, Kansas. Mary Joan Fry was born August 25, 1922 in Yates Center, Kansas, the daughter of Thomas A. and Anna E. (Eisenbart) Fry. She graduated from Yates Center High School in 1941 and attended the University of Oklahoma. She moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma to work for Phillips Petroleum Company. She worked for the company for 43 years in sales from June 18, 1942 to August 1, 1985. She moved to Osage City in 2013 to be closer to her sister, Virginia. Joan had been a member of St. John Catholic Church in Bartlesville. Also, member of Desk & Derrick Club, where she was elected President and Jane Phillips Sorority, where she was elected National Vice-President. After moving to Osage City, she became a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She is survived by a sister, Virginia Ryan of Osage City; six nieces, Mary V. Fry of Pittsburg, Kansas, Tamara Bond and husband, Steve, of Osage City, Peggy Fleming and husband, Robert of Weir, Kansas, Anne Elrod and husband, Chuck, of Chicopee, Kansas, Theresa VanBecelaere and husband, Vince, of Pittsburgh, Kansas and Georgeanna Lynn Fry of Leawood, Kansas; five nephews, Mike Ryan and wife, Joy, of Wyoming, Clyde Ryan and wife, Mary Kay of Wyoming, Tom Fry and wife, Michelle of Michigan, Jim Fry and wife, Tracy of Bucyrus, Kansas and Bob Fry and wife Daphne of Overland Park, Kansas; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Fry of Frontenac, Kansas and many more great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Thomas L. Fry; a great niece, Melissa Fry and a brother-in-law, Bob Ryan. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 7, 2014, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Osage City. Graveside service to follow service at 2:00 p.m. at Yates Center Cemetery in Yates Center, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to Vintage Park at Osage City or Midland Hospice and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth, Osage City, Kansas 66523.
